Super healthy, delicious and VERY EASY treats even the kids can make to give them energy for weekend sport


TV presenter Matt Baseley and his young daughter Billie joined The Morning Show to share some simple, healthy treats that Aussie kids will love.

Mango Groove Smoothie

Hero Fruit: Mangoes

Prep: 5 mins Serves: 1

INGREDIENTS

1 cup fresh or frozen cubed mango.

1 small ripe banana, halved

200ml chilled coconut water

*a third ingredient could be a small green pear or a small apple

METHOD

  1. Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Watermelon Wizz Smoothie

Hero Fruit: Watermelon

Prep: 5 mins Serves: 1

INGREDIENTS

1 cup cubed watermelon

5 fresh or frozen strawberries

1 small apple, chopped

125ml chilled coconut water

METHOD

  1. Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Dinosaur Fruit Platter

Ingredients

  • 2 kiwi fruit
  • 1 watermelon
  • 4 mandarins, segmented
  • 1 punnet strawberries
  • 2 oranges

Prepare a platter of fruit for the kids to enjoy. Include watermelon, oranges, strawberries, mandarin segments and kiwi fruit, and create fun dinosaur-themed shapes. We used watermelon and orange halves for the dinosaur body, and segments of the other fruit to make a head, legs and tail.

Fruit Skewers

Ingredients

  • 1/4 watermelon red seedless
  • 1 apple red
  • 1 banana, each
  • 1 punnet strawberry fresh
  • 170g no fat plain yoghurt (optional)
  • 1 bunch grapes red seedless (700g)

Cut apples and bananas.

Using a melon baller, scope out balls of watermelon.

Hull the strawberries.

Place fruit pieces on the skewer one at a time.

Top with yoghurt.
