Stars welcome Stoinis for Strikers clash

Melbourne Stars captain Glenn Maxwell has won the toss and chosen to bowl in Saturday’s BBL match against the Adelaide Strikers.

With fifth place on the line for both sides at Adelaide Oval, Maxwell and the Stars have been boosted by the return of superstar Marcus Stoinis from a back injury.

Allrounder Clint Hinchliffe and Pakistan fast bowler Ahmed Daniyal return to the line-up after missing Thursday’s derby win over the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium.

Making way are internationals Qais Ahmad (international duties with Afghanistan) and Haris Rauf (Pakistan Super League), both having finished their BBL commitments, and Nick Larkin who was named as an X-factor sub.

The Strikers made one change to the team that comfortably beat the ladder-leading Perth Scorchers on Friday, with Matt Renshaw returning after recovering from COVID-19 to replaced Henry Hunt in the top order.

Adelaide Strikers: Peter Siddle (capt), Fawad Ahmed, Ian Cockbain, Harry Conway, Thomas Kelly, Harry Nielsen, Matthew Renshaw, Matthew Short, Henry Thornton, Jake Weatherald, Jonathan Wells.

Melbourne Stars: Glenn Maxwell (capt), Joe Burns, Hilton Cartwright, Joe Clarke, Brody Couch, Ahmed Daniyal, Clint Hinchliffe, Sam Rainbird, Marcus Stoinis, Beau Webster, Adam Zampa.
