The body of a woman has been recovered from floodwaters in the New South Wales Snowy Monaro Region.
Emergency services were called to Tuross Road, near Countegany Road, Tuross, just after 2.20am on Friday following reports a vehicle with two occupants – a man and a woman – had become trapped in floodwaters.
Police were told the female occupant exited the car, before being swept away.
Officers together with volunteers from the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) commenced a search.
Police located the male occupant a short distance away. He did not require medical treatment.
After 7.15am, the body of a woman was located downstream and recovered by NSW SES.
“She is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be a 37-year-old woman,” NSW Police said.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
